Trials Information
Initial Squad Selection: (to be confirmed)
Term 1 – Week 5 – Monday 24th February
Squad selection will be reviewed before every tournament.
Criteria for the Selection:
· Areas to be considered shall include:
o the level of skill displayed by the student,
o the fitness level displayed by the student,
o the performance of the student as a member of the team,
o the attitude and behaviour of the student on and off the field,
o the attitude and behaviour of the students in class and around the College,
o the age and size of the student
Student Eligibility for Selection
· If a student who is not present at the trial is being considered for selection, all students and officials must be advised before the commencement of the trial. The student must have an approved application for exemption via Mr Linthorne to be considered for selection.
Student Withdrawal
· A player may be 'dropped' from a team for a suitable reason:
o conduct that is detrimental to the team or College
o repeated absences from training
o lack of communication/respect for coaching staff
o disruptive behaviour
o academic disengagement
· If a student chooses to withdraw on their own terms, both the student and parent need to inform both coach and rugby coordinator in writing 14 days before a tournament.
- Coaching staff must agree with this withdrawal, as a player withdrawal may impact the entire team’s inclusion in the tournament. If the withdrawal is not acceptable - we refer to the College sport agreement signed during parent permissions that is expected to be honoured.
